£390,000 compensation for scaffolder
Scaffolder John Marks, 35, was working at a construction site near Plymouth, when he walked inside a building and fell through a hole. The resulting injuries to his foot and ankle were so severe that he’ll never work as a scaffolder again and many aspects of his life will change forever. Rapid Solicitors Serious Injury Unit won £390,000 for Mr Marks and avoided the need for a costly court trial. The amount took into account his loss of earnings and loss of pension as well as his injuries. A spokesperson at Rapid Solicitors said: “Despite what many people think, compensation is not like a price list. It requires skill and experience to negotiate the amounts awarded. We battled hard for our client and this was a great result for him. The amount of compensation reflected his financial losses and the severity of his physical injuries. A big factor in our client’s success was our strong reputation for having the expertise to deal with such serious injury claims. This was a complex case with complex issues. We instructed the right medical expert to examine and assess our client’s injuries, so we could provide the best, most accurate medical evidence to the Defendants. As well as winning our clients’ rightful compensation, these type of cases are important because they encourage greater safety in the workplace.” Mr Marks, said: “My wife and I are really pleased by the settlement. We can’t thank all the staff at Rapid enough.”
