Profile on Paul Bird
Paul Bird is a flamboyant multi-millionaire who runs the family poultry business in his native Lake District.
Paul’s motorsport teams have won numerous titles and awards including four British Championships as well as victories at the Isle of Man TT, Daytona and Macau, China. Paul’s team has also secured three World Superbike wins. He famously gave Joey Dunlop his final TT win when he took victory in the 2000 Formula One TT. Steve Hislop, John McGuinness, James Toseland and Jeremy McWilliams are just some of the names who have raced under Paul and now the team is now embarking on an ambitious plan to race in both British Superbikes and MotoGP in 2012. Paul has established himself as one of Britain’s leading rally drivers and at one point was ranked second in the country behind the late Colin McRae. Paul won the 2005 National Rally Championship. Paul is also a helicopter pilot and can often be seen in the skies above Cumbria in his helicopter, ferrying the team between airports and their motorsport factory. Paul is a former professional soccer player, playing in goal for a number of North West based clubs.
